John Ray Belleza Batucan was a member of the Philippine team that saw action in the 2008 World Age Group Chess Championships held in Vung Tau, Vietnam from October 13- 31, 2008.
John Ray is only 12 years old. He is the youngest son of Neptali C. Batucan Jr. and Marilyn B. Batucan and the younger brother of Shell Active Davao leg Junior champ Neptali Batucan. J.R as he is fondly called, was born on June 26, 1996 and is presently residing at Rovical Village, Daliao, Toril, Davao City. He loves to play chess and believes in the motto “ Make the right move , play chess” ….
