Leny So, the mother of grandmaster Wesley So, has emailed chessph to confirm her son's participation in the 2009 Torch Real State China Chess League Division A on May 4 to 8.
"Wesley wants to go in China (sic)...It will have no conflict with Asian Chess, which will start May 14. (I) Hope it will not affect his level of play. It was his decision. I am sure he will try also his best in Asian (Continental)," she said in her email.
"It is an honor to be invited by them. I also encouraged Wesley to be close with Chinese people because he is half-chinese," she added.
Wesley will be accompanied by his father William in China. Their travel expenses will be covered by the Qi Lu Chess Club, according to a copy of the invitation furnished to chessph.
